Thanks to the increasing proliferation of digital fabrication tools and especially CNC milling technology, it is possible to provide a route for designers to access global distribution without the lock-in of traditional intermediaries; offering customers access to affordable, personalised design items; and present to independent local makers around the world a new revenue stream.
What it means is an opportunity for designers to challenge today’s design aesthetics creating original furniture based on this new technology.
