Throughout the past century we have aspired towards a more socially-conscious and democratised idea of production – what the Bauhaus conceived as ‘a new guild of craftsmen’.

Fuelled by the internet and new digital tools we are now closer than ever to realising this vision. As contemporary sharing platforms, digital manufacturing technologies and the Maker Movement develop, we have an opportunity to rethink how goods and services are made and distributed on a global scale.

OpenMaking.is a public domain resource developing open standards in keeping with new and social forms of design and manufacturing, working with a community of thought leaders and practitioners to define this new movement and discuss how we will produce and consume in the 21st Century.
